Barbie committed suicide – Legally blonde at St. Leonard Street

What would you think if ,strolling  through St. Leonard Street, you would suddenly come across with an array of dolls nailed to the wall? The Blackall ,Hoxton based hall, is pleased to host one of the latest “pop-culture revisit” exhibition: Scarlett Ribbon Affair-Sybarite Dolls. Sitting at a micro-table in the centre of the room ,these feminine icons wear leather corsets, black pants and discuss about their future. Yes, because the time has come for Barbie to take her secular redeem : no more the “girl next door” , nor the florist “round the corner” …just a comely, ribald and sexy poupée.

“My dad started to create these dolls for fun and put them on E-bay. When the bids quickly rose up to £20,000, he realised it was time to turn his hobby into a career!”,says  F.’s son at the exhibition.

The designers Fergen and Lindgard unify their fashion experience in this “small-big project” and give each doll an aggressive, but still glamorous style.
The commitment of the work? At least 100 hours per Barbie which could sound more  devotion than  passion. However, no matter how much time the job requires, the importance is the detail-care and a fashionable hair cut for the baby-models.

Let’s finally  nail the “blondy” icon to the wall and leave the stage to the femme fatale of the XXI century.
