Hip Lane Stories: I ain't Lion to You

On Brick Lane one thing is dead certain: no, not the presence of Blitz leafleters nor the subconscious questioning of whether the faeces is actually canine, but that 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Beigel store IS open. Fact. Knowledge of this beautiful and less than £4 salt beef certainty must have spread down the central line to Epping and beyond, because it seems that somehow the Essex lion has found himself an Oyster Card and hopped on the tube to Shoreditch, maybe to grab himself a 1980s vintage shell suit, possibly to go to the latest pop up gallery but ultimately to sample some of Brick Lane’s doughy delights. And though Brick Lane might be regularly partially populated by orange Essex folk with long nails and big hair, the appearance of one roaring rather than asking how long the queue to get into Fuse would take, got Shoreditch in a stir…
