Shoreditch Town Hall Unveils Festive Season

With the season of good cheer approaching fast, there is something to inspire and excite everyone this festive season at Shoreditch Town Hall. Children and adults alike can meet Santa Claus in a Christmas Grotto with a twist, while there are festive dances for lovers of Ballroom, of Swing and everything in between, chances to pick up unique gifts and lots more.STH_website_artwork-01_450_245_80_s_c1
The latest cutting-edge theatre production commissioned by Shoreditch Town Hall sees SHUNT artists Nigel Barrett and Louise Marireturn with an exciting new show for families, Nigel and Louise’s Basement Grotto. Taking over the basement of the Town Hall from 12-24 December, the warren of atmospheric rooms will be transformed for children to join Santa’s elves on an adventure through a secret magic portal to meet Father Christmas, and receive a present from the man himself. This brand new 45-minute show is perfect for children of all ages, and each £10 child ticket includes up to two FREE adult tickets too.
The magic portal will also be open on Friday and Saturday evenings for big kids (aged 18+) to enjoy Grotto Late Nights, with guest curators including Christopher Brett-Bailey and Rob Salmon offering up festive treats packed with live music, performance and interactive festive fun on 12, 13, 19 and 20 December from 8-2am. Tickets for the Late Night Grotto are just £15 each.  Acclaimed theatre-makers Nigel Barrett and Louise Mari create their new Christmas adventure, following on from the sold out success of SHUNTs The Boy Who Climbed Out Of His Face, children’s bank robbery show, Stander, Festival of Adventures and Party Skills For The End Of The World which previewed to sold out audiences at Shoreditch Town Hall in February.

Keeping in the Christmas Party spirit, Shoreditch Town Hall have teamed with London Swing Dance Society for A Festive Night of Swingon Monday 8 December for a typically festive themed dance party, with Lindy Hop classes for beginners and intermediates and live music from one of Europe’s best social dance bands, The Shirt Tail Stompers. If you prefer a bit of Strictly, come and re-live your Tea Dance memories with a special festive edition of our ever-popular Town Hall Tea Dance on Monday 8 December from 1.30pm-4.30pm with Mr Wonderful leading an afternoon of festive fun for everyone to enjoy. And if that wasn’t enough to keep you festively full, the Assembly Hall will again play host to Intrigue Emporium who provide the perfect Christmas shopping opportunity at a Christmas Fair featuring more of the best and brightest cutting-edge fashion, jewellery and accessories, homeware, art objects, stationary, paper goods and on Sunday 7 December from 11.30am.
