In September last year Will (Pact’s Head of Coffee) went to Brazil to scout out some really good coffee. His efforts there are now paying off as some incredible Brazilian coffees hit Pact’s Coffee Menu. And one of the coolest bits is that the Will’s initial shortlist was whittled down by Pact customers…
Will’s mission was a simple one; to unearth some really terrific tasting Brazilian coffees to share with Pact members and to build long-lasting relationships with talented coffee farmers. Over 14 days in Brazil, Will visited 22 different farms in three different regions, covered 2,000 miles and encountered one tornado. But it was in region three that Will met his Brazilian coffee soulmate. His name was Jaoa, he was in his 60s and he had an Indiana Jones hat that matched Will’s own. In terms of Brazilian coffee, Jaoa is a big name and has helped to establish the specialty market in Brazil over the last few decades.
Upon his return, Will was armed with a few choice bags of coffee for the selected members to taste. So on the 9th of October, 20 customers came to Pact HQ and put their taste buds to the test. At that point we had six coffees to try, each brewed in a filter. Between us we came up with one clear winner… Irmas Pereira
