Picasso Portrait Exhibition, first in twenty years

The first major Picasso exhibition in twenty years is being organized by the National Portrait Gallery and Barcelona’s Museu Picasso. This fall, the National Portrait Gallery will be displaying Pablo Picasso.

Sponsored by Goldman Sachs, over 75 portraits will be shown from widely acclaimed masterpieces to paintings that have never been displayed in Britain. This will include the cubist portrait of Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, loaned by the Art Institute of Chicago. From a private collection, his portrait of acrobat and artist Nusch Eluard will be shown.

Picasso’s portraiture from multiple phases of his life show multiple styles. Serious and silly will be side-by-side. Portraits of friends and of himself will be displayed, revealing more about his character and artistic diversity. It’s no surprise that Picasso dedicated Museu Picasso and portrait focused National Portrait Gallery have teamed up to show Picasso’s best portraiture.
