Finding inspiration from the psychological and inner turmoil a person goes through, photographer Jovana Miadenovic created a new conceptual photography series. “Fear of Silence” studio shoot shows six different emotions that the model is going through. The viewer is let into the inner turmoil of the model that is normally hidden away from the society. These emotions are pushed to moments when the model is alone and able to express what she is actually going through. What stood out to Miadenovic is the common theme of silence that vibrates through society. There is a silence in loneliness, silence in communication, and silence to the people that we are surrounded with every day. Jovana Miadenovic aims with this new photography series to display the silence that consumes society and why that is a problem. Her symbols of feeling trapped and being uncomfortable in your own skin radiate through the different photographs in the series. She believes that the advances in technology and social networking have helped give rise to these psychological problems. What she wants to do is bring these issues of society to light and continue to explore the effects that this ever growing problem will bring.

Miadenovic is a freelance photographer currently based in Serbia who shoots fashion, portrait and conceptual series. The studio shoot was used with a medium format camera and natural light. The lightning helps capture the model in a more natural state so that the emotions can take the forefront of each image. There are no added effects. Instead, what the model is feeling is the main focus of each photograph, with different furniture and lighting acting as frames.
