Dressed for winter, with coats and gloves, you can’t see an inch of skin. Then those covered people had a different side to show.
Thirty four men and women stood before Alan Powdrill’s camera half-naked. Their skin was covered in tattoos, but you would never know it from their first photos. Alan Powdrill is a UK based photographer and you can find more of his projects on his website.
Each person photographed was quoted saying when they got their first tattoo. Several answered in their teens, but some started in their 30’s or 50’s. Every one loves their tattoos. The photos show the covered, and then uncovered, individuals in an every day scene: on the street, by a home, or by the river. Nothing about the person changes except for their clothes.
