A Holiday in Heels – How to Make Your Wardrobe Festively Fabulous This Season

Christmas is a time to celebrate – fun, friends, laughter and  little fashionable whimsy. Normally sedate fashionistas are given license to be a little adventurous and extravagant – all in the name of Christmas spirit.

Let’s face it, the rounds of office parties, corporate events and social gatherings can be a little hard on the wardrobe so add throw some daring festive fashion into the mix, live boldly, don some killer heels and hit the party scene with a bang!

The long and the short of it

Christmas is a time for flirty, short dresses and strappy footwear with sky high stilettos. Make your legs look like they go on forever with spectacular lace up heels – guaranteed to capture all the attention everywhere you go!  Pair them with a saucy little skirt or santa outfit to create a stunning entrance.  Don’t forget a pedi as those toes will be on display till well after New Year…

Lace up heels come in a range of styles from ankle length for the more conservative, to drop dead, thigh high models for those of us wanting to make a splash.

Hair Dressing

Whether you have long, luscious locks or a short pixie bob, incorporating some seasonal colour into your hair can brighten up any event.

To braid ribbon, ivy, tinsel or basically anything through your hair, hold lengths to hair whilst braiding and attach with a fancy clip.  To make a Christmas Tree braid – a tutorial can be found here which will give you a unique talking point at every function you attend.

Gift Giving

Why not turn yourself into a gift that keeps on giving this season with a plain white dress and a HUGE red bow?  Pair it with some matching strappy heels and you are bound to catch someone’s eye who is keen to unwrap you!

Tinseltown

Looking for something a little more sparkly?  Fashion yourself an outfit from gold tinsel – shimmering and sparkling under the lights, you will always be vibrant, colourful and ready to party.

For those who are a little less crafty, try rummaging through your wardrobe for an old dress or skirt and t-shirt that you don’t mind ‘upcycling’. Buy some tinsel in your favourite colours and cut it into usable lengths. With a hot glue gun, attach it around the edges of the clothing as a trim or for a more dramatic effect, all over.

Create a hawaiian effect by using the same method with a bikini and attaching long strips of tinsel to simulate a grass skirt.

Christmas is just not the same without the jewellery.  Cute little earrings in the shape of reindeer, snowmen or gingerbread men are the perfect seasonal accessory, sure to bring a smile to the face of everyone you meet.

For extra sparkle, opt for battery-operated earrings which flash and glimmer to incorporate a little extra quirky fun into your ensemble.

Formalise it

Much as we prefer a casual affair, corporate functions and business events often demand a little less leg and a little more elegance.  Pair a knee length red midi-dress with white accessories such as scarf, coat, shoes and matching clutch to create a subtle yet sophisticated seasonal outfit.

Whatever fashion statement you decide to make this Christmas – do it with style and confidence.  By getting into the spirit of the season you can bring a little bit extra sparkle into the lives of friends, family and everyone you meet.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
