Pop surrealism captured by Alex Gross

Pop surrealism was introduced into the world back in the 70s with roots in punk music and underground comix . This movement mixes the surrealism of ideas of dreams and the unconscious with the pop culture world. While these two elements don’t always go together, Alex Gross has an ability to use his oil paintings to make a statement. Some themes he tends to work with include globalization, commerce and the passage of time. His work has also been featured on the cover of the band Blonde Redhead’s album and bestselling book After Dark by Haruki Murakami.
