The International London Tattoo Convention: A weekender dedicated to the best body art and tattoo studios in the world

The International London Tattoo Convention and Tattoo Life announced its highly anticipated September event that will showcase the very best international tattoo artists, an exclusive award-winning film premiere, legendary guest judges, tattoo competitions, art exhibitions, workshops, blistering live bands and sizzling multi-skilled performances plus much more.

The International London Tattoo Convention has handpicked over four hundred pioneering tattoo artists from studios around the global to take part in the 14th annual show on the 28-30th September 2018 at Tobacco Dock, London, E1W.

Renowned attendees to the show, include Nikko Hurtado – who is famed for his realism work and tattooing Cheryl Cole’s buttocks. Dan Smith – LA Ink, Ami James and Chris Garver – Miami Ink, Scotland’s multi award winner Alex Rattray and Mary Joy – star of new Vice Tattoo Age series.

Many of these cutting-edge artists will submit their work during daily tattoo competitions for scrutiny by the distinguished judging panel, which this year boasts special guest Mark Mahoney. This legendary artist has a star-studded list of clients and considered to be the founding father of fine line black-n-grey tattooing.

Mark Mahoney has inked a plethora of high-profile clients from David Beckham to Johnny Depp, his inimitable style has earned him worldwide fame. His Shamrock Social Club studio is a treasured fixture of LA’s Sunset Strip as is his impeccable dress sense.  Mahoney spent the early years of his career tattooing biker gangs before moving to New York, where he settled into a burgeoning punk rock scene and has many enthralling anecdotes from his years of experience.

Also on offer is the exclusive world premiere screening of Mamma Vita Mia- the real Neapolitan Camorra. This award-winning documentary explores the history of the tattoo culture in Naples. Revealing the criminal origins of the phenomenon and the obscure motives that lead the city to become one of the most heavily tattooed in the world. The creators of the documentary, Giuseppe Di Vaio and Braian Anastasio, will be on hand over the weekend to give insight into some of the many characters they meet during the filming.

There is plenty of entertainment throughout the weekend, including live music from psychobilly cool cats, King Kurt supported by London-Irish Psycho-Ceilídh Rockers, Neck, on Friday evening. On Saturday, British breakneck blues comes from The Groundshogs with Welsh duo, Henry’s Funeral Shoe opening the evening show.  A selection of renowned guitarists will be performing throughout the day on the Americana Gretsch Guitar Stage, and there will be ample fire and fury from The Fuel Girls with their daily pyro and aerial shows.

Plus, specially curated art exhibitions and workshops, which embrace the skills of tattoo art and its culture. Finally, an array of pop-up stores will be selling limited edition and unusual tattoo related apparel and goods.  A selection of craft beverages and artisan food stalls will be on hand to keep the crowd fed and watered throughout the festivities.
