WeWork announced that Ashton Kutcher will be a part of the London Creator Awards, taking place on 25 October at Printworks. He will be joined by fellow judges Vanessa Kingori MBE, publishing director of British Vogue; Michelle Kennedy, co-founder of Peanut app; and Jonas Templestein, co-founder of Monzo. In addition, twice Grammy-winning producer and DJ, Diplo, will headline the show.
The Creator Awards is a major global initiative established in 2017 by WeWork to recognise and reward the creators of the world – across all industries and all stages of growth – by committing funding to entrepreneurs, small businesses, growing companies, nonprofits, performing artists, and more. Having had over a decade of success in investing in the startup world with companies such as Airbnb, Uber, and Spotify, Kutcher is a natural partner for WeWork’s London Creator Awards.
“The WeWork Creator Awards is an awesome competition created to support entrepreneurs, startups, non-profits, and performance artists who all plan to change the world for the better. I truly support that, and London is a great innovation hub from which to celebrate these creators,” says Kutcher.
Finalists are chosen from a pool of hundreds of applicants from across the UK & Ireland. At the event they will pitch their idea, business model, and/ or organisation before a live audience, competing for funding, with prizes ranging from $18,000 to $360,000.
Providing a masterclass to guests will be Emma Gannon, recording an insightful and informative Ctrl Alt Delete podcast episode in conversation with charity: water co-founder and CEO, Scott Harrison, and Joshua Coombes, the creator of the Do Something For Nothing social movement. The trio will be exploring the idea that passion creates power, and that one individual has the tools to change the world around them: and how.
The event will be a celebration of entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity, with attendees having the opportunity to shop for creations from local members and non-members at the pop-up market – including products from mission-driven startups and entrepreneurs in collaboration with Amazon Launchpad – and make connections at the job fair in partnership with Jobbio. Attendees will also have the chance to explore a festival of creativity and learning with some of London’s thriving Meetup communities at Togetherfest. In addition to the pitching, the second half of the evening will feature the announcement of the winners and a set by twice Grammy-winning producer and DJ, Diplo, followed by a celebration into the night.
Since March 2017, WeWork has hosted more than 31,000 attendees and given away millions of dollars to nearly 200 winners across 13 Creator Awards Regional Semi-Final events around the globe, plus one Global Finals event in New York City in January 2018.
