Marvel Universe LIVE! and More Marvel Events Coming to London

Following a hugely successful first tour, Marvel Universe LIVE! will be returning to the O2 Academy in September 2019. They’ll be back with a brand-new live action arena show with over 20 superheroes including Spider-Man, The Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange, who will all battle against the mischievous Loki. Though the show is just less than a year away, there’s already promise of cutting-edge special effects, 3D visuals, aerial stunts, martial arts, pyrotechnics and even motorcycle tricks.

It’ll be nice to have the MCU return to West London, not only because the show is so much fun but also because some of the best scenes have been filmed here. The Brent Civic Centre appears in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and the Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes was used in Thor: Dark World (2013). Really, West London should consider adopting Thor as our mascot considering how many times he’s been here.

In fact, considering how popular the character has become since the release of Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War this may not be a bad idea. While Thor was often considered a second fiddle to the more popular Avengers characters, he’s now reached true godly hero status. In time, he may even be as popular as the actual god from Norse mythology upon whom he is based.

That may take a while though, considering Thor has existed for centuries and still pops up all over the place. Just earlier this year, Thor appeared briefly at the end of the newest God of War video game. He’s also been around in the iGaming sector for ages, featuring in incredibly popular games such as Thunderstruck slots online and its sequel, Thunderstruck II. Meanwhile on TV, Thor’s dad Odin plays a huge role in American Gods, which could mean that Thor himself will make an appearance in upcoming seasons. In fact, maybe we should just adopt all versions of Thor considering they’re all pretty great.

If you can’t wait almost an entire year to see your favourite Marvel superheroes, never fear. Between 29 November 2018 and 31 March 2019, ExCel London will be hosting the highly-anticipated Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. The Science Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network is a multi-room experience where fans can see behind the scenes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Each character’s backstory will be explored, as well as their initiation into the Avengers. For instance, there’s the Thor Observatory which is completely dedicated to the King of Asgard and son of Odin, Thor Odinson. Visitors can even enter the MCU themselves as there will be numerous props including Tony Stark’s Iron Man suits, Captain America’s personnel file, Thor’s Hammer and even Bruce Banner’s Lab. Plus, there will be exclusive displays straight on Black Panther, The Wasp and Thanos that have never been seen outside of the studios before.

Not long after the Marvel Avenger’s S.T.A.T.I.O.N comes to an end, ExCel London will also no doubt be hosting the annual summer MCM London Comic Con. So really, maybe we should make Thor all of London’s mascot, what do you think?
