Wagamama brings the Japanese tradition of Hanami festival to the UK

Wagamama brings cherry blossoms to their restaurants celebrating the traditional welcoming of spring. Working with Asahi to create the perfect event and celebrate Hanami in the UK bringing together food, drink, family, fun and friends in the perfect setting of pink cherry blossoms starting spring in the right way! Cherry blossoms or sakura symbolise renewal, vitality and beauty and are considered to be the national flower of Japan bringing joy and love into everyone’s life. Hanami literally means “viewing flowers”, but generally indicated cherry blossom viewing. Utilising the beauty of the flowers and the gorgeous blooming, festivals are held within the time of Hanami, taking time out to celebrate nature’s beauty!

Wagamama is hosting a competition in partnership with Lastminute.com and Asahi Super Dry, where one lucky winner will be able to celebrate Hanami in Tokyo next year. The competition will be based on guests going to a Hanami themed Wagamama restaurant and taking photos of their experience, whether it be the cherry blossoms, themselves enjoying karakuchi (dry tasting) pairing or any other creative idea around the installations of the Wagamama restaurants. They will upload the content to Instagram where the winner will be chosen for their trip to Japan. All you need to do is use the hashtag #hanami and tag @wagamama_uk + @asahisuperdry in your post.

Wagamama has chosen the restaurants which are geographically spread across the UK to incorporate Hanami, which will be London (Wigmore St), Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Edinburgh. These installations will run for 8 weeks in each location and start from the following dates:
