The leading showcase for British female comedy talent, the Funny Women Awards are launching their annual search for the next household names and announcing the heats #1 and #2 of the Awards at Hoxton Hall on 10th-11th May 2019.

The Funny Women Awards were established in 2003 and have become a key fixture on the UK’s comedy calendar. The Awards have become an important launch pad for many talented performers including past Awards alumni Katherine RyanZoe LyonsSusan CalmanKerry GodlimanSara PascoeLondon HughesBridget ChristieSarah MillicanRachel Parris and Desiree Burch.

Once again Funny Women look to empower women in comedy across performance, writing and filmmaking with an additional award for the Best Show based on nominations from the public of the awards nights. The winner will be announced during the Grand Final later in the year.

Funny Women founder, Lynne Parker said: “Women already have a strong and important voice in the comedy industry and so many of today’s big names have taken part in the Awards at the beginning of their careers. This year will be no exception when it comes to trailblazing talent.”

Heat #1 of the Awards on Friday will be hosted by 2018 Awards winner Thanyia Moore. More hosts and full line-up will be announced soon.
