Here’s how to get a free pint in your local pub this weekend

100,000 free drinks are up for grabs over two weeks from today (19th)

National Pub Fortnight is fast approaching and, in celebration, thousands of pubs across the UK are giving away up to 100,000 free drinks. That’s enough to fill more than 800 kegs and double the number that were available during last year’s National Pub Fortnight.

You can choose from a variety of popular tipples including gin and tonic, bottles of Old Mout, Bulmers and Heineken 0.0, Britvic J20 or pints of Foster’s, John Smiths, Kronenbourg 1664, Strongbow, Strongbow Dark Fruit, Heineken and Amstel.

Some 2,500 participating pubs will be handing out selected free drinks to locals during National Pub Fortnight which runs from July 19th to August 4th.

All you have to do to claim your free drink is visit www.nationalpubfortnight.com on a mobile. The promotion works on a first come, first served basis and if you sign up before the celebrations start on 19th July, you’ll be placed on a waiting list and emailed with instructions on how to claim your free drink voucher on the day.

National Pub Fortnight is a celebration of the great British pub and the role it plays within the community. Research from Ei Publican Partnerships recently revealed that it can provide a boost to people’s wellbeing, with over a third of Brits saying that the pub brings people and communities closer together.

The research also showed that the average British pub goer has made two new friends in the last year via their local watering hole.

Also, in celebration of National Pub Fortnight, a handful of pubs are trialling an ‘Alternative Happy Hour’. During the happy hour people will be encouraged to switch off their phones and take part in traditional pub games to get to know new people, copies of the ‘Happy Newspaper’ will be given out and there will be free sessions on the pool table and jukebox.

Nick Light, from Ei Publican Partnerships, said: “National Pub Fortnight is the perfect way to celebrate everything we love about our local pub. It’s much more than just a place to have a drink, it’s a vital part of communities across the country and is the ideal place to socialise, meet new people and spend time with friends and family. I’d encourage everyone to embrace the campaign, sign up for a free drink voucher and visit their local to raise a glass to the great British pub.”

The offer is available at thousands of participating pubs across the UK, thanks to Ei Publican Partnerships, the UK’s largest leased and tenanted pub business, Star Pubs and Bars and Punch who are working together on the 2019 National Pub Fortnight campaign.
