Unity Arts Festival is back in September

Between Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September, Unity Arts Festival will be back for the second year running. Located on Leamouth Peninsula, Unity Arts Festival is a celebration of creativity in one of east London’s most exciting new neighbourhoods, uniting London City Island and Goodluck Hope through arts and culture with exhibitions, installations and workshops. Attracting over 2,000 people last year, entry to the festival is completely free, as are the majority of workshops and activities.

Forming part of Open House London, an event which promotes appreciation of architecture in London, Join the Docks, a cultural programme across the Royal Docks, and Totally Thames, an annual celebration of the River Thames, Unity Arts Festival invites guests of all ages to meet the artists, designers, makers and performers who are transforming the island, whilst discovering the evolving creative landscapes of London City Island and Goodluck Hope.Home to resident creatives and local artists, London City Island’s gallery spaces, studios and workshops will host a number of activities throughout the festival.

Highlight events include:

  • A series of artistry and expressive ballet workshops, dress rehearsals and guided tours at the English National Ballet’s new headquarters
  • Film screenings run by soon-to-be tenants London Film School
  • Animation workshops with resident Tim Allen, creative behind the likes of Isle of Dogs and Fantastic Mr Fox
  • On-site arebyte gallery, will be hosting  their brand-new exhibition, ‘The Underlying’, and running virtual reality sculpture workshops (aimed at children 8years+)
  • Introductory guitar sessions and live lounge performances with  The Guitar Social,
  • Trinity Art Gallery will be showcasing visual and performance artists as part of their Discovery Sessions program
  • The Woods studio are planning various music and dance related activities and London Lighthouse Studiowill be offering an architectural photography walk workshop
  • London Parkour Academy will be hosting ‘open house’ parkour sessions at Trinity Buoy Wharf
  • The very popular ceramic workshops at  Trinity Sculpture Studio will again be featured over the weekend.

 For those who need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the festival, the destination’s new Hopewell Square is the perfect chill out spot, under the eye of English National Ballet, where a selection of food vendors and a coffee trike will be serving international street food. For those looking for a party, Goodluck Hope, a new riverside neighbourhood encircled by water, will be offering live music sessions lead by onsite music production company Three Bears Entertainment.
