London Fields Brewery launches one-day ‘Clean-up Crawl’ in a bid to clear up Hackney’s waterways

On Saturday 19th October, London Fields Brewery is teaming up with local charity Hackney CVS to launch Love Not Waste, a ‘Clean-up Crawl’ in the Hackney area, which aims to raise awareness of the sheer number of plastics currently polluting Hackney’s waterways and put a dent in cleaning them up. Riffing on the brewery’s mantra of Love Not War, the one-day event will see the brewery exchanging half pints of their beer for plastic bags of rubbish collected along the canal.

London Fields Brewery has partnered with five local pubs in Hackney for the event, who will be giving out one free half pint in exchange for a full bag’s worth of plastic collected. The five pubs taking part are: The Virgin Queen, Rosemary Branch, Cat & Mutton, The Dove and The Barge House. Members of the clean-up crew can also claim their free half pint at London Fields Brewery’s recently relaunched Taproom.

Gabriele Bertucci, brewery ambassador at London Fields Brewery comments: “We are hugely excited to launch this collaboration with Hackney CVS, in aid of an issue that is close to our hearts – beer is made up of 90 – 95% water after all. We want to help clean up the waterways in Hackney and the areas around them, so that they not only remain a great space for the local community to use, but to also prevent the further pollution of the rivers and seas in the UK.”
