Art Breakfast In Shoreditch

Since when I moved in London I have always enjoyed Shoreditch particularly during the night (even if I don’t remember completely some of those). With its pubs, bars and clubs that guarantee the best night out in the city. But as far as I moved in the area I got the chance to discover places that I wouldn’t enjoy during the night.

Walking with a friend of mine through Brick Lane, looking for a good breakfast in late (very late morning), we run into a bar, “The Suzzle”. Looking from the window inside the bar we see some shapely cakes just in from of our eyes and we immediately decide to pop in.

The design inside the bar is perfect for the area where it’s located (just at the end of Brick Lane). The wooden forniture and floor give to the place a familiar atmosphere and the beautiful things inside the bar don’t stop just to cackes but are also some awesome pictures, hang in the whole bar. The bar is small but every wall has at least one picture hanged on it, from photos, to draws, all with different styles.

“Do you sell it?” I ask
“Yes we do”, Melanie (the owner of the bar) anwer
me. “But it’s not just to sell. We think that sometimes people like to have a good time, relaxing, with a coffè or a tea and enjoying art around them. That’s the idea we had when we opened the bar.”

Being a local bar the menu is a kind of simple (tea, latte, caffè, cappuccino and home made cackes) and it’s completely up to Melanie. “It depends on what I find at the market when I go shopping. I just look for fresh and gluten free ingredients, because I want to welcome every kind of customer.”

Eventually you won’t find the quality of this breakfast in most of the coffè shops in the city. We sit down in the other room of the bar, where there are even more pictures. A proper art gallery with also two simple black tables to feast the breakfast and some random chairs that fit perfectly with the atmosphere and the forniture of the place. The latte and the chcocolate brownie that I took (£ 2 each) were just wonderful. The brownie was tasty and freshly backed, as well as the slice of carrot cake that followed it (£ 1.5). As I said. Very simple, but absoluty delicious. I couldn’t even taste that the cakes were all gluten free.

If you love alternative and vintage atmospere in the area of Shoreditch and Brick Lane, than you will surely love the Suzzle, for a brekfast experience surrounded by art. The right place in the right area.
