The 1-2-3-4 Shoreditch Park 1st September 2012

It is with huge excitement that we announce punk legends Buzzcocks as this year’s original innovator for The 1234 Shoreditch. For its fifth birthday, East London’s coolest festival puts on its best and biggest installment yet, and alongside an incredible lineup of the most up and coming talent put together for its best value to date at £20, special guests Buzzcocks will be performing, THE1234 Shoreditch manifesto is to always present the best new bands from the underground, but also to feature original innovators, bands that have had a lasting impact on new music, who’s work resonates today, artists that are still relevant and continuing to influence new musicians. Past guests have included Vic Goddard & Subway Sect, Har Mar Superstar with Fab Morreti from
the Strokes, Bobbie Gillespie from Primal Scream & Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols, Peter Hook from Joy Division / New Order, Lydia Lunch, Damo Suzuki from Can.

Buzzcocks formed in 1976 and were at the vanguard of the UK Punk Rock scene , playing at the original 100 Club Punk festival the same year as Sex Pistols, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Clash and The Damned. With hit singles ‘Orgasm Addict’, ‘What Do I Get’, ‘Ever fallen In Love With Someone’, ‘Everybody’s Happy Nowadays’ and ‘ Harmony in my Head’, to name a few , their music that still stands up today, sounding contemporary, fresh, and most of all still very exiting. Having recently sold out dates at the 02 Academy Brixton and Manchester Apollo for their hugely unique ‘Back To Front’ shows, it cements a band who are just as vital and relevant as they were four decades ago.

Following this year’s event in Shoreditch Park, The 1234 Shoreditch will go on to take over East London, hosting aftershow parties at 10 locations, all free to wristband holders.
