The ‘ROOTS’ exhibition will launch at The Colourworks, in Hackney on 11th of April, 6-10pm. The exhibition will feature the works of Colin Pratt, Gaurav Bagha, Lucy Davis, Yasmin Kennelly, Richard Sinclair and Chioma Ahunanya. As the group of artists currently studying at the University of the Creative Arts in Canterbury present their own personal takes on colour an exploration of relationships, sociological, political, ecological issues are revealed through a wealth of expression in media.
The Colourworks is a multipurpose arts and events space in Hackney, London a fitting venue for all things creative in light of art. The roots of a plant or an idea rather are the beginnings of birth of something ‘new’ and this is the group’s first collective exhibition. ‘Roots’ will mark the broad expression of colour across the mediums ranging from photography, painting and sculpture, to the recycling of the ready-made.
The concepts and sources of inspiration for the artworks differ greatly but speak in unity of colour. Fragments of culture will be carried from Portugal, Canterbury, nature, even from the materiality of the medium to create an exciting hub of work.
