Pin up your victory rolls and wave your Union Jack with pride, dust off your stripes and polish your medals. Turn out that light and pile into our East End air raid shelter because The Blitz Party is back with a bang on Saturday 7th September 2013.
Taking place in Village Underground, Shoreditch, this night promises to be another fantastic showcase of the finest 1940s music and dancing. The venue will be transformed into a wartime air shelter with a swing dance hall, a live music stage, and a bunker complete with sandbags, searchlights, blackout curtains, oil lamps and military bunk beds. Ration books will replace bar menus and scarce provisions will line the walls.
The evening will host the UK’s finest live swing bands, performers and DJs. Big band tunes will play for fun-loving party girls who long to share a Gin French cocktail with a handsome man in uniform. The dedicated Spitfire Bar will quench the thirst of soldiers with hearty British ale and champagne. There will be plenty of war time snacks on hand to keep those jitterbugs going. Another room will project original newsreels and wartime films, accompanied by live music, for a touch of that wartime authenticity.
Ladies, don your lipstick and tea-dresses and draw on those stockings. Gentlemen dust off your medals and wear your uniforms with pride. The Blitz Party returns to London for a blowout party where dancing and neighbourly spirit are the order of the evening.
