With London Collections: Men having started on Monday 6th January we are already getting a glimpse of what this year may hold for fashion. The AW14 menswear collections all seem to be sticking to existing themes for this season with a few exciting editions to the men’s winter wardrobe.
Oversized coats are here to stay for men and for women. Oversized coats are an undeniable commonality between many of the collections we’ve seen so far. From leather to felt, dark colours to bright and structured to unstructured there is plenty of choice. Perfect for any outfit and for this cold weather, huge coats are a must have this year and don’t look like they’re going anywhere.
Add some pattern. It seems that brightly coloured patterns will be present on the fashion scene this year. In the winter months it’s easy to fall into habits of wearing blacks and browns to reflect the seasons and consequently moods but it’s time now to say goodbye to that and welcome the New Year. Don’t be afraid to be bold; block patterned suits have been a hit this week as well as other matching patterned outfits.
Keep it comfy. 2014 is all about being comfortable. Cashmere and wool knitwear is not only practical and comfy, but fashionable too. Whether you prefer chunky knits or thin, roll necks or V-necks, any knitwear is stylish at the beginning of this New Year. Don’t forget your knitted accessories too; oversized scarves and knitted beanie hats are a nice addition to any outfit and keep you warm as well. The brighter the better.
The London Collections: Men are still on going and London Fashion Week is coming up in February to tell us more about what 2014 holds for fashion. Where do you think fashion will take us this year?
