London Collections: MEN AW14 Review

It’s hard to believe but London Collections: Men AW14 is over! Three day long ever-growing London’s own men’s fashion week proved once again that it will only get bigger better every season and capital’s best designers showcased why British menswear is the one to watch at the moment! Paris, Milan and New York Fashion Weeks are great and they may be the home of most of the world’s biggest fashion labels. However, all of them lack one great characteristic that only LC:M posses: Great young talent! London’s up and coming designers will take over the whole world one day…Their fearless designs show what we will be actually wearing in the future! LC:M is what the future of fashion will be one day! Craig Green, Sibling, James Long, KTZ to name a few will the powerhouses of fashion one day and London will truly be the capital of menswear fashion one day.

In these three days LC:M alongside showcasing the future of fashion also presented how great the true classic British style is. Burberry Prorsum once again showed everyone ‘this is how it’s done, alright?!’…

If we look back to all the shows and presentations that took place two trends stand out from everything: COLOUR and OVERSIZED! It’s great that our winter wardrobes won’t be just full of black, grey and white garments but will mostly look like tulip fields in The Netherlands as orange and red were the biggest winners or let’s say it will look like extracts from the tube map channeling Central Line and London Overground. Alongside colour, oversized garments really stood out this season and probably almost every show at least had just one oversized piece in the collection! This one probably needs a couple of more years to become part of the mundane fashion habits and also I don’t that London Underground can cope with oversize dressed commuters yet, unless you travel on Metropolitan line!

LC:M managed to make everyone who were lucky enough to be part of it forget about the January blues and made the first week of January a joyful week which is synonymous with despair and depression. Ohh and Dry January just didn’t happen!
