Tell us about you?
I am a multi- discipline artist and avant- pop musician working with lots of awesome peeps that surround me making things happen. My homie J calls me Beyonce on Acid.
What inspired you to start?
Probably MJ but think I always wanted to be a singer since as long as I can remember – I don’t remember so much past stuff.
What was the inspiration behind your name?
Whilst on the bus to Glastonbury about 10 years ago – I doctored this shit pop song ‘don’t call me baby’ by putting the name ‘bunty’ into it and singing it in ma favourite indian accent on a bus way to Glastonbury. For a while I called everyone else Bunty, then somehow I became Bunty –
What are you working on right now?
An AV live show for my upcoming album Multimos. A journey and a game, a gig and a rave and a workshop all in one. – trying to move it all out of the boxes.
What’s been your most successful gig? Or the one you’ve most enjoyed so far?
I guess one of my favourite gigs was a 3 hour solo vocal loop show at secret garden party about 5 years ago – we travelled into new realms and the audience were total magic . When they were shouting for an encore after bout an hour, I was like’ there is only weird improvised shit left ‘ and they just screamed for it and so we went there! I still bump into random people who tell me they saw me at that gig and we usually have a hug or something!
How would you describe a typical fan of your music?
There definitely is NO typical fan …they are eclectic to the max just the way I like it …. all ages, lots of different interests – humans – weirdos.
How would you describe your creative process?
I have a very constant flow of ideas and inspiration – some would call it manic – cos I don’t really stop – but it feel to me like all the stuff is out there and all you have to do is catch it and focus on it for a while – til the next idea grabs you . It is always Instinctive and deeply rooted in improvisation – on a train watching people or when I’m walking or bout to go to sleep . A big part of it is exploration and experimentation and finding shit that resonates.
What are your plans for the future?
Throw myself into making a colour spitting live show for Multimos album release. Really excited about developing the interactive element using mobile phones and making audience choirs each show. To travel with it and connect with new environments . And generally to be prollific. And to not turn into a tosser.
