At the best and worst of times, waking up can be painful. Especially on a Monday morning to the world’s most irritating alarm clock – and no matter how many times you switch up the tone to a more uplifting one, it doesn’t take long to rile you up again. Unfortunately, we can’t wake up every day feeling Cinderella-fresh as chirping birds open our curtains but London-based industrial designer Josh Renouf is working on making the ritual a more harmonious one – as it should be.
As some of the most inspired before us knew, a little attention to morning rituals can go a long way. It was rising-at-dawn for Hemingway and sitting around naked for Benjamin Franklin.
Cue Bariseur, the coffee alarm clock. “It eases the user into the day with the subtle movement of stainless steel ballbearings that boil the water through induction heating, accompanied by the smell of freshly brewed coffee. It encourages a ritual before going to sleep, signalling to the body and mind that it is time to unwind and relax. Living slow even when times are fast”
Because the phrase, Rise and Shine, should not be oxymoronic. And why wouldn’t you want to wake up to the seductive aroma of coffee?
Renouf is preparing Bariseur for the market, with an estimated retail price of between £150 and £250.
