Steven Briand’s new film Chimera brings dance to a new level

Sometimes choreography is so sharp it seems as if the dancers are reflections of each other rather than completely separate bodies.

In the short film Chimera, directed by Steven Briand and choreographed by Cathy Ematchoua, the dancers literally become one. Inspired by the mythological chimera, a combination of a lion and a goat with a snake’s head for a tail, the mesmerizing movements of the dancers is heightened by the fascinating compilation of the director. Each body maintains the same posture and movement despite their inherent differences. The beauty of watching one step from into another is absolutely enchanting.
