8-Bit Pop-culture style Art inspired by Nintendo

Adam Lister has been creating watercolour artworks in a pixelated format.

Stylised to that of 8-Bit Nintendo and Atari video games, this innovative series incorporates pop-culture at its best including masterpieces, characters and famous icons.

The geometric technique makes the pictures seem futuristic but also cubist as each picture is made up of only squares and rectangles.

Lister uses watercolours to re-enact the memorable icons and although disorientating at first the pictures are easy to recognise due to the precise use of pigments and shapes.

The series includes, The Simpsons, The Girl With The Pearl Earring and Wonderwoman all painted in this block style.
