Realistic Paintings that Will Trick the Mind

Photography merged with a sense of whimsy and wonder takes viewers back to a time of enchantment, innocence and wonder. Artist Patrick Kramer achieves an air of fantasy in his works — but instead of a camera, he uses a paintbrush.

Kramer crafts what he calls ‘detailed paintings’, creating scenes that are easily mistakable for clever photography. Using tiny brushes and a keen eye, Kramer’s art pays close attention to the smallest details. This gives the illusion of realism.

Adding subtle yet fantastical elements to his paintings gives Kramer’s work a certain edge. Fading butterflies and cracked eggs transcend from the art world into reality. The line between fiction and nonfiction becomes blurred and disappears.
