Could you be the next Landscape Photographer of the Year?

Entry for the fourteenth annual Landscape Photographer of the Year Award opens on 13 January 2021 and entrants have until 14 April 2021 to submit their photographs of the British landscape.

Landscape Photographer of the Year is one of the world’s most exciting photography awards, founded by renowned landscape photographer, Charlie Waite. The competition is open to everyone, with a special class for those younger than 18. There is a prize fund worth £20,000, including £10,000 for the overall winner and additional special awards.

As in previous years, an exhibition of shortlisted and winning entries will premiere in the late autumn. Previous locations for the annual showcase have included the National Theatre, London Waterloo Station and London Bridge Station. Shortlisted entrants will also be published in a stunning coffee-table book Landscape Photographer of the Year: Collection 14, published by Octopus Publishing, and described by The Times as a ‘coffee-table staple’.

The 2020 awards’ winner was Chris Frost, who captured a stunning image of a wooded area with mist swirling through the trees near Milborne St. Andrew in Dorset. He noted how “the low shooting position allowed more emphasis to be placed on the wild garlic and pathway.”

The Landscape Photographer of the Year is unique in that it celebrates the United Kingdom only, offering photographers worldwide an opportunity to showcase their images of Britain. From stark moorland to angular cityscapes, and from rocky coastlines to  lush woodland, Britain’s remarkable landscape and unpredictable weather provides generous material to fire the imagination.

Awards founder, Charlie Waite comments:  “One of the greatest and most rewarding pleasures is to have a deep and profound communion with the landscape and nature. The way to seal this emotional experience forever more is to photograph and fully own that human response.  So I urge anyone who enjoys photography to be on a mission to produce images of our magnificent United Kingdom for 2021 Landscape Photographer of the Year.”

An exhibition of winning entries will premiere in November 2021 and around 150 of the best photographs from the competition will appear in the Awards book – Landscape Photographer of the Year: Collection 14 – by Octopus Publishing.
