The Secret Garden in Central London

St. Dunstan in the East is a church garden in the City of London. It is a beautiful and quiet area that is often a prime location for photoshoots, garden parties, and visitors.

There is a deep history to this church. St. Dunstan in the East was initially built around 1100.  It stood strong until 1666, when the Great Fire of London severely damaged it. Sir Christopher Wren, who designed St. Paul’s Cathedral, took up the project to design the tower, steeple, and patch up the rest of the church from the fire.

St. Dunstan in the East was later damaged again during the Blitz in 1941. While the tower and steeple survived the bombing, the decision was made not to rebuild the church after World War II.  Since then, the church and its grounds have become a public garden space for photographers and visitors to enjoy.

This old Saxon church is a beautiful area of central London to visit. St. Dunstan in the East is located in a small alley between tall steel buildings. It creates a stark contrast between old architecture and modern architecture.
