Out on the Open Road with Artist Grant Haffner

With sudden downpours, grey overcast skies, and biting cold spells, London is still trying to claw its way out of the tail end of winter and into spring. These paintings from Grant Haffner are then a welcome portrayal of a much warmer, inviting landscape- bursting with bold colour, the artist’s work is reminiscent of bright summer days and burning sunsets. Haffner was raised in East Hampton, Long Island, so in turn his creations are inspired by the town’s country roads and flat, sprawling vistas where the horizons extend as far as the eye can see. Each work is typically completed with a mixture of acrylic and pens or markers, with the artist also using sweeping brushstrokes to convey the speed and rhythm of the rural roadways that he depicts.
