Stream ‘BAD GYAL’ while reading the interview below:

1. Tell us about you, how long have you been making music? What inspired you to start?

I have been making music forever, My dad always boasts “he had me in the studio from 2 years old”. To be honest my dad is a roots and reggae singer my uncle Flash on my maternal side is a Jamaican rapper better known as a Deejay and his older brother is a disc jockey/soundman. So to answer your question my family gave me music because it is a part of our life.

2. The music industry is super competitive these days, was there a moment in your life that you wanted to give up on music? How did you manage to stay focused and achieve what you want?

I want to give up music every day it’s like a beautiful relationship I can’t let go of lol, but in all honesty, I keep going because of the time, energy and money I have spent on it already I have to do this until I die now. Also, I have some great supporters that champion me religiously I call them the big business fraternity.

3. How would you describe your creative processes? Who writes the lyrics to the songs? Are the music and lyrics written in conjunction, or separately?

The creative process always comes from life, I always want to paint an emotion or feeling I am experiencing through words, sometimes the music comes before the lyrics, and then other times the lyrics or song concept comes before. When I am in a creative space it is the best feeling on earth for me.

4. Where did the inspiration come from?

The inspiration of Bad Gyal song came from Sincerely Keane. The inspiration of my Bad Gyal verse came from all the interactions I have had with bad gyal in my life.

5. What’s next for you?

I have some exciting songs lined up next. I also have some creative content ideas to accompany my songs and movement, this question is always hard because I am more of a show and prove person.
