It it’s kebabs you’re craving then head over to the Corner Savoy, situated on the corner of Shoreditch High Street and Great Eastern Street. This is not your average kebab house. Yes they offer your standard doner, but it’s the shish wrap that you want to order. Freshly grilled marinated chicken nestled in a warm tortilla wrap stuffed with crunchy salad and a mixture of cool yoghurt and spicy chilli sauce. The staff are adorable and are happy to cook up any combination of what’s on the extensive menu.
159 Brick Lane
This is the local’s favourite night time snackery. Beigal Bake is open 24 hours a day and offers freshly cooked bagels starting at 25p plus your chosen filling. The most popular is a wad of salt beef or cream cheese and salmon, for about £3. The ladies who work there are known for being a tad grumpy, but it is all part of the charm!
360 Old Street
If its bagels that are your favoured midnight munch, then there is another joint that you need to visit. Whatchamacallits sits just on the corner of Old Street and is actually more of a window than a shop. It’s easy to miss the old couple, who sit behind the hatch, feeding the hungry into the small hours with their freshly prepared salt beef bagels.

Damacus Bite is a great place for lunch as well as a night time snack. The menu is made up of authentic Syrian dishes, with their lamb shawarmas being the most popular choice. If you are a veggie (or just don’t fancy meat), their falafel toasted wraps and Patataharah (deep fried potato cubes, blended into chopped coriander with garlic and chillies) are mouthwatering.

Pizza? Voodoo Ray’s is your place. It’s the brand spanking new sister venue of the Dalston Superstore and its system is simple. Choose a slice (or one or two or three or more) from their large selection of pizzas and they’ll reheat it for you so it’s served to you piping hot. The ones to try are the ‘Cabbage Patch Kid’, comprising savoy cabbage, bacon, tomato sauce and mozzarella and the ‘Green + White’ – ricotta, spinach, pine nuts, grana padano and mozzarella.
