Cheap and late
Beigel Bake, 159 Brick Lane, E1 6SB. Open 24 hours, seven days a week, and baking since 1979. The salt beef beigel is the order.
Upmarket, 83 Brick Lane, E1 6QR. A daily street-food hall with more than 40 traders, open 11am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sunday.
Ely’s Yard, behind the Truman Brewery. Food trucks from 11am to 11pm daily.

Dishoom Shoreditch, Boundary Street. The Bombay-café group’s East London branch, known for its breakfast naan rolls and queues at weekends.
Smoking Goat, 64 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6JJ. Thai barbecue and drinking food; the kitchen opens at noon Monday to Saturday.
Gloria, Big Mamma Group’s Shoreditch trattoria and Neapolitan pizzeria, on Great Eastern Street.
Manteca, 49 to 51 Curtain Road, EC2A 3PT. An Italian restaurant whose wine list draws on Italy, wider Europe and North America.

Old Street and Kingsland Road
Cây Tre, 301 Old Street, EC1V 9LA. Vietnamese cooking at the Old Street end of the Kingsland Road pho strip, open seven days.
Gunpowder Spitalfields. Modern Indian small plates, a short walk south of Shoreditch.
Eating with music
Bun House Disco, 118 Bethnal Green Road, E2 6DG. Hong Kong-style buns and a disco room, open until midnight Thursday to Saturday and closed on Mondays. Made in Shoreditch’s Bun House Disco feature.
Mad Cats, 107 Redchurch Street, E2 7DL. A neighbourhood kitchen and hi-fi bar, open from 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and 3pm to 8pm on Sunday. Mad Cats interview.
