MEOKO, underground house and techno webzine, have announced their first official event to be held at Village Underground in the heart of Shoreditch on Friday 28th June. Not just your bog-standard party, The MEOKO Project will last for 11 hours, bringing together creative brands, individuals and collectives in a celebration of music culture and London’s colourful nightlife in general. With a party to top it all off!
FASHION & PHOTOGRAPHY
From 5pm the event will feature a London Nightlife Photography exhibition of some of the city’s best club culture observationists, and a pop-up fashion market featuring unique streetwear and festival brands such as Puckoo Couture, Fuudhoods, Only Child London, Done London and IRL London.
FILM SCREENING
Then from 7pm, they will be showing the premiere London screening of a new electronic music documentary ‘Beatz’ on the walls of the converted rail viaduct that is Village Underground. Directed by DJ/producer Eduardo De La Calle (who is soon to be releasing on Cadenza), Beatz explores the ‘divergences and contradictions’ in electronic music and was filmed by him and his friends during his extensive tours, DJing around the world in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Tokyo, London and all the way to the island of Ibiza. The documentary features the likes of Loco Dice, Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Carl Craig Derrick May, and Monika Kruse and looks to be an essential watch for anyone in the industry or looking to get a foot in the door! Watch the trailer here.
Then at 9pm the party begins, with a lineup featuring the kind of underground talent that MEOKO has been pushing on its site since it started. Slovenian techno maestro, Valentino Kanzyani, will be headlining, alongside Jun Akimoto of the Fuse London collective who is flying back from Japan especially, and Binh from Berlin label, Club der Visionaere. Two artists representing the vibrant underground house scene in London, co-founder of the famous Toi Toi Musik parties, Voigtmann, and Rico Casazza will also be playing, guaranteeing it’s going to be a big event in the East London calendar!
If you buy a ticket for the screening + party, then all of this is topped off with a free drink upon arrival courtesy of Desperados, food supplied by Shoreditch favourites The Drunken Monkey, and free popcorn from Propercorn to eat while you watch! It’s going to be a whole experience, to be enjoyed to the fullest.
