Westminster Council Announces Late-Night Entertainment Zones

Westminster Council have officially announced that they are looking at creating a number of zones, suited to late-night entertainment. The current areas they are looking at include The Strand, Victoria Street and Oxford Street. The idea is to bring additional tourism to the area. The borough is home to some of the most famous attractions in London, including the West End, and upscale shopping districts.

More Night Buses and Extended Retail Hours

There are plans to extend retail hours, as well as allowing museums, which could include the Churchill War Rooms, to open for longer periods of time. There are also documents that support the extension of the London tube service.

Regarding entertainment, most casinos in London are open all night and have worldwide acclaim. The issue is that people have to leave early to catch public transport. The online world has helped to negate a lot of this inconvenience, with live casino games allowing people to play in a real casino setting, without leaving the house. If you look at Paddy Power roulette, you’ll notice several live titles that reflect the opulent settings of casinos, with some streaming directly from them. Examples would be American Roulette from MGM Grand Live and European Roulette from Bellagio Live. Games like this have made live casino games more accessible and removed the limitations imposed by public transport and opening hours.

Now, it seems that Westminster Council are looking to take steps to close the gap even more, by ensuring that night bus services to Westminster are restored. The new initiative, named Westminster After Dark, is also going to take into account the impact of noise pollution as the result of extended opening hours. They are also hoping to make nightlife more inclusive, making it a more liveable area where there is always something to do. One of the steps they are taking is installing a number of security cameras, to ensure that the extended opening hours don’t lead to antisocial behaviour.

Which Areas in Westminster are Going to be Upgraded?

Several areas in Westminster are going to be upgraded. They include The Strand, Victoria Street and Oxford Street. Zones like this house some of Westminster’s cultural hubs. The Strand for example is home to the Adelphi Theatre, which has hosted numerous productions that range from the Book of Mormon and Kinky Boots. With Oxford Street being home to several high-end shopping opportunities, it may be that opening times are extended, which would be a big boost for local businesses. Of course, even though there are a lot of talks happening right now, the right measures have to be put into place to ensure that the areas offer something for everyone, meaning that there could be plans to revitalise the area that go far beyond nightlife. Of course, extending the bus and tube times would allow businesses to open later as employees can travel more efficiently, which would have a knock-on effect on production and the general economy. This seems like a very positive movement, and certainly one that people look to be embracing.
