If you’re in the mood to shake it like a G6 to the rhythm of the RnB and Latin hits played by a live DJ The Shoreditch is open until 2 AM Monday to Saturday. I was there last Saturday for a friend’s birthday party. We started off pretty early (at around 7:30pm) and judging by the looks I could never have guessed it would become so crowded later in the night! We started the night with 2 for 10 cocktails thanks to the happy hour, which lasted until 10 pm! I strongly recommend the sweet Coconut Caipirinha, which comes in a coconut shaped glass; although my favourite glass is the Happy Buddha. You may also try one of the Fish Bowl cocktails for £30 for four or five people, just grab a straw and dig in!
Some like it hot
It started to get crowded around 9pm and as more people filled up the space it became hotter and hotter. Actually, the most distinct feeling left behind from that night seems like the heat. I’m not saying it was unbearable and in fact with the music and cocktails one could even fool herself that she’s on a tropical island but they do need stronger air-conditioning.
Inside the decor is retro with disco balls hanging down the ceiling and quirky items such as the hot Hawaiian chick mannequin by the bar. She looked so real that I still think that she might once have been a real person and turned into a mannequin after waiting so long for her Mai Tai at the bar! For those of you who cannot dare to approach the bar, your waitress can bring your drinks to your table, at least ours did and she actually did a great job all night. I have to give it to her, despite the crowd service was fast and very friendly!
If all that dancing makes you hungry they have street food, sandwiches, salads, various platters and cheese/chocolate fondue. We ordered some street food to share, which was between £3 and £6.30 per plate and the portions were quite generous for the price. You can’t go wrong on the Grilled Halloumi Skewers or the Flatbread with Hummus, Aubergine and Goat’s Cheese Dip.
I would definitely recommend booking especially with large groups so that you would have a place to heap your coats and bags or catch your breath in between songs! They can handle any kind of event up to 250 people including birthdays in case you’d like to invite all the people you’ve ever said hi to – including your Facebook friends.
