This September, D & D London will be bringing
the seaside to the City with the launch of Fish Market. Fish Market will be based inside the city’s oldest surviving warehouse built by the East India Company. The Old Bengal Warehouse was constructed between 1768 and 1771 to store spices, tea, cigars and port, immortalised in a poem by John Masefield that described it as holding “the wealth of the world and London’s power.”
Fish Market will be a relaxed venue for guests to enjoy a taste of the freshest fish and shellfish sourced from the British Isles. The menu, compiled by head chef Barry Macmillian, will feature classic English dishes such as Winkles and whelks; Native lobster cocktail; Beer battered fish and chips with mushy peas; Fish pie and Cornish fish soup. Highlights also include a Fishboard with cods roe, Arbroath smokies, salmon and potted mackerel. Blackboards will display daily market catches. The main focus in the restaurant will be the crustacea bar which will offer seafood platters alongside an extensive selection of English wines amongst the 80 bins on offer. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed inside the restaurant’s bright and simple interiors, designed by Conran & Partners, or outside on the terrace.
Fish Market will open every day from 7am (excluding Sundays) and will serve a specially designed seaside breakfast including Kedgeree with smoked haddock and Grilled Kippers, along with the OBW Breakfast and healthier options such as Berry Crush and Oats so Lush smoothies.
