Vertigo42 is a place to see and be seen. I knew that I would know no one there, but I wanted to see for myself all of the wonderful things that I had been hearing about this remarkable champagne bar. The view could do no more than amaze me. I was taken the minute I walked out of the lift. Some could say that not everything was quite up to par, but at the reasonable prices, I’m willing to overlook a few misses in order to enjoy the overall ambiance of this delightful little secret.
Of course, Vertigo42 is not so much a secret as it is an obscure destination to be appreciated. Reservations and waiting may be a problem, considering the season. But I had none. I made it in advance and did not have to change any of my dates. I want to finally go to a place that cares that I am there. I don’t want to be another number coming through a door. When I arrived, Vertigo42 was waiting for me.
I invited a girlfriend to go with me, just so I wouldn’t feel so all alone, but I hardly remember having much conversation with her. The view inside and outside the beautiful wall to wall windows was enough to mesmerize me for hours. But then the menu came and my senses continued to be titillated with the selections and delightful offerings from the kitchen. The service made us feel exclusive and as if we were the only reason that the waiter came into work that night. What a pleasure to be treated with such regal conduct.
I did not come hungry, as I knew already that Vertigo42 is not a restaurant. But they did offer some small selections, so I indulged myself. We had a snack selection that was an assortment of delightful tapas that we thoroughly enjoyed while we sipped champagne. The delectable tart saltiness of the prawns was an amazing complement to the gentle champagne. If you want to fully enjoy this experience you can order the cheese off of the dessert menu for £9.50. This tray is a variety of cheddar, stilton and French brie all with crackers and grapes. The crackers and cheese delectable again with the wine, but the grapes were most likely the best grapes that I have ever had in my life. Tapas were not enough to be considered a meal, but more than enough to satisfy a palette. The atmosphere and the experience alone entice me to consider going again, to make a memorable evening and to completely indulge ourselves in luxury.
