While over the summer we concentrated on mouth-puckering portions of ceviche, we’re returning this Winter with traditional, hearty Peruvian stews – showcasing several beloved potato varieties (but of course), alongside giant corn, hunks of tender meat and handfuls of fresh herbs. All topped with the likes of aji amarillo-infused oil and quinoa croutons…
Past fans of the ceviche-element of our previous run needn’t panic, as the £15 food ticket – available from Eventbrite/Edible Experiences – includes a small bowl of ceviche to start (plus something for afters). Vegetarians are also catered for.
As before, we’re only serving one spirit, pisco – an unaged grape brandy from South America, but our menu has been similarly skewed to suit the season. Obviously the pisco sour isn’t going anywhere, nor is our much-loved Piscopalian – a twist on the Negroni, using Payet Torontel Pisco, Campari & China Martini (this cocktail re-unites the two stellar ingredients that Peru has gifted the drinks world; Pisco & Quinine). Or, for that matter, our Pisco Inferno – Pisco, Velvet Falernum, lime & our specially developed ‘Inferno Bitters’, using 2 types of Peruvian Chilli, Scotch bonnets and a few other firestarters. On top of this we’ve got a couple of hot cocktails: a hot buttered pisco and a spiced beer.
We’re doing 5 nights: 7th & 8th Dec, 14th & 15th Dec, 21st Dec. £15 gets your food – ceviche, stew and something sweet (all elements of the menu will change weekly) and these tickets are available from Eventbrite OR through Edible Experiences. Cocktails will be £6 at the cash bar. We’re operating out of The Hackney Cypriot Association in Dalston (5 Ball’s Pond Road, N1 4AX), which is the venue we started out with in July before travelling around London. We’re doing two sittings for food – 7pm & 8.30pm, the bar is open to anyone for cocktails – no bookings necessary . We are open until 2am.
