Meanwhile in Stoke Newington opened in December 2012 as
a collaborative project between Meanwhile Space and East London Furniture, supported by Hackney Council.
Transforming a former furniture shop on Stoke Newington High Street, the space has created opportunities for Hackney creatives and entrepreneurs to showcase their work, access affordable studio/workshop space and launch their business concepts.
The two latest projects to go live in the space from Saturday 2nd March are lifestyle boutique Yeradessa and creative agency TestSpace – joining the existing East London Furniture showroom/café and Meanwhile exhibition space.
Influenced and inspired by analogue lifestyle, mid-century consumerism and twentieth century nostalgia, Yeradessa offers unique items from the recent past as well as contemporary gifts, homeware and lifestyle products including instant analogue photography from Impossible Project. Yeradessa will also host weekend Polaroid photography workshops and other events throughout the month.
Test Space is a creative agency making use of temporary, short term and abandoned property to develop innovative ways to showcase artists and their work. The Test Space temporary concept store and gallery will show off the talents of illustrators, printmakers and street artists from across the UK.

EMULSION LIFT WORKSHOP with RHIANNON ADAM
Join renowned Polaroid artist Rhiannon Adam as she talks you through the simple chemical processing that allows you to manipulate your instant images onto a new medium.
Emulsion Lifting is a process particular to certain types of old Polaroid film, and the new Impossible Project films. The basic principal is that the layers of the developed photograph are separated, and with the help of water and deft fingers, the picture layer can be floated off and “lifted” onto a new surface. This creates a unique artwork, crossing the boundaries between fine art and photography, and opening up new avenues for creative alchemy!
Tickets are £30 and available here
