SYD are fundraising to take their new music & dance production ‘Fable’ to the STOFF Fringe Festival in Stockholm this August. ‘Fable’ is a Youth Music & Dance project by Shoreditch Youth Dance Company in collaboration with young musicians Ben & Alfie. Linking words, dance, music and design, choreographed & directed by Lee Smikle and the young artists aged 15 – 21, ‘Fable’ is a devised work based around the narrative and rhythm of storytelling, fairy tales and mythology. Both movement and music material was created simultaneously in the studio using the companies own created stories and tasks based around old tales & legends. This is also SYD’s first time working with a costume designer to help bring the work to life. Costumes by Yann Seabra.
SYD is fundraising to be able to take this project with a 14 strong cast to premiere ‘Fable’ at the STOFF International Fringe Festival, Stockholm this August. SYD have already been selected from over 1500 artists to take part in the Festival. So far SYD has reserved accommodation and payed for the Outward flights with support from Malmo Youth Contemporary Dance – "thanks you lot!". Kick Starter funding would go towards accommodation, double bass hiring, food and flights home!
