The UK debut of Javi Peña who is internationally recognized as one of the leaders of Spanish electronic and house music scene is the first thing to check out in 2014 – he is going to be a special guest at the newly established series of parties HOTOUGHT on Saturday, 11 January 2014.
Being an X resident DJ for KEHAKUMA sessions at SPACE IBIZA – a venue considered and valued as the world’s best club besides of being the most awarded club in the world since 1989, hosting the cream of the underground scene great geniuses such as Richie Hawtin, Chemical Brothers, Jeff Mills, Ricardo Villalobos to mention just a few, is more than just promising. From there he easily spreads in a very short time to clubbing landmarks in the Italian, Spanish and Swiss scene making magical sets consisting of the newest, most vanguard, distinctive, modern dance cuts. With the release of Agua y sed (Chile), Crosswold Recordings (UK) among others, Javi Peña imposes to a wider audience his elegant and distinctive style which merges house music, electronic sounds and echoes from the past. As a vastly experienced DJ, his style spans across an equally broad spectrum, expertly throwing together highlights from genres far and wide. The fact that he has played in high prestigious European clubs, festivals and tours and countless number of venues in Spain from north to south, not to mention recent successful shows by several established party brands, has pushed his sound forward with an adept skill of crafting something new each time. Javi has also collaborated in some well known radio shows for stations like IBIZA GLOBAL RADIO (SP), RADIO PUNTO (IT), EUROPA FM (SP) and that is another teaser that is just making us even more impatient about the performance he is extra specially preparing for us.
Originally named Francisco Javier Peña Garrido makes his deep and groove DJ sessions in a way that he describes as hypnotic, enjoyable, fun and overwhelming, which will be perfectly blend together with some of the London Underground scene scorching, hand-picked newcomer artists from the likes of Pet&Co among others to be announced. Gathering and masterfully combining musical genres, expanded from smooth and vocal based, dark disco and house further into deep techno sound, he has been blown away by the sheer variety of influences, contributing to his ability to energise the crowd keeping the vibes fresh and interesting makes him the ideal support for the headliner. Expect to hear 12-inches in one of East London’s very finest and massive custom built Funktion One Sound System equipped brand new venue that is Duke’s. There will be a second room containing separate bar (apart from the two in the main one), its own DJ booth with acts to be announced, where can be expected as brilliant tunes and tailored cuts sandwiched in-between driving and bouncing sounds.
