James Thiérrée has been described by London’s Metro as “a master of theatrical spectacle, whose adventures in physical hallucinogenics defiantly reject categorisation”. He’s one of Europe’s most endlessly inventive artists, constructing epic dream-like spectacles, and his new show Tabac Rougeblends a spectacular fusion of dance, circus arts and theatricality with stunning sets and costumes on a breathtaking scale. Tabac Rouge explores the fascinating world in which mystery, mirrors, music and movement combine to catapult you into the strange logic of dreams. The imposing sets create a dark and ominous environment; a massive panel of tangled tubes and mirrors re-shapes and move incessantly across the stage whilst dancers execute random steps in space. Tabac Rouge runs from 25 – 29 March at Sadler’s Wells Rosebery Ave, London EC1R 4TN. Nearest tube: Angel. #tabacrouge
