G: Tell us about your band? How long have you guys been performing together? What did inspire you to start? What was the inspiration behind your name?
We are a Psychedelic rock band which started in 2012. We were 3 (Jeremy: vocal guitar, Paul: vocal Guitar and Ross: Drum) at the beginning of our formation, and then Arnaud (Bass, vocal) joined us last year. We have been playing a lot since 2012, around England, Paris and last month we played in New York for 6 gigs. Electric Discharge Machine is singing for all the broken hearts who still have faith in beauty.
G: What are you working on right now?
Jeremy: We have just released our new clip Panic Attack and we are working on our second EP.
Paul: We are working on a new Ep. It’s gonna sound very psychedelic. Jeremy has two titles : Declaration of War and Kingdom of the Night. Two songs that are really heavy and wild. They make you dance and space out. I have two (Welcome to the Self Realization Fellowship and Meditation Gardens, Considerations Mystiques et Apostasiques) those are more soft and mellow. Perfect to listen to whilst kissing a girl, or better yet, two girls. For two is better than one or none.
G: What was your most successful or most enjoyed gig so far?
Arnaud: The best gig so far I will say it was the one we played in Brooklyn, people were in the same vibe as us. The audience really responded to our music.
Jeremy: Same one as Arnaud, in Brooklyn, in this little trashy art gallery. The atmosphere was really electric.
Ross: My favorite gig was when we played at Oui Madame not long ago the sound was great the energy was there and there was hundreds of fans dancing and singing to our music
G: How would you describe your typical fan?
Arnaud: Our Moms
Jeremy: A typical fan… is a device that creates a current of air or a breeze and can just blow you away.
Paul: Our typical fans are mostly super hot models and firemen , and i don’t say that to bring more people to our gigs !!!
Ross:Our typical fan is a french /cockney weirdo who loves to have a good time and explore the music we do . Also it also helps if they are girls
G: Who writes the lyrics to the songs? Are the music and lyrics written in conjunction, or separately? How would you describe your creative processes?
Arnaud: About our creative processes It depends on our mood. Sometimes we will have a good riff, work on it, then leave it for a while and then come back to it to make a song with it. It can start out as an individual idea or inspiration but then we get together, work on it, adding each of our particular flavor and spices – it’s the combined mixture that produces the final product.
Jeremy: The lyrics is mostly Paul and me but for the structure of the songs we all work together.
Paul: I sit with my guitar in my room and i let the inspiration hitting me. If i find a nice melody, i work on it until i have a song. Then I propose it to the band, if they like it, we go at the practice room and we destroy it until it sounds like an electric discharge.
G: What are your plans for the future?
Our plans will be to release our second EP on a record Label for us to get our music heard on a bigger scale .
So those record labels out there reading this – come and see us. We will play in Paris on the 28th May at the Bus Palladium and 14th June at the Lexington. We are setting up a plan for playing in South Korea in October.
