Interview with Red Vatican founder Christopher Clarke

G: Tell us about the project?

Red Vatican is a concept fashion label which launched to market in March of this year. We work with emerging fashion designers at the production end of the market.

G: What is unique about this project?

Designers produce a collection for Red Vatican in exchange for studio facilities, a bursary, promotion and numerous other benefits. The objective is to kickstart their careers in order to help them launch successful fashion labels of their own. We also work closely with Artists & other Creatives, across the board, to produce artworks that can be used in our campaigns, exhibited and auctioned off for Charity.

Red Vatican is, effectively, a fashion label, an Incubator and a cutting edge arts platform.

G: Why do you choose Shoreditch to do this?

If you’re doing anything that is fashion/arts related in London and you’re not in East London let’s face it; you’re at a disadvantage.

G: Who/what are your favorite Artists/Businesses in the area?

The hot tub cinema thing is kind of funny.

G: What are you future plans?

In July Red Vatican will launch a concept store in Dalston. The intention is for it to be part shop, part gallery, part dive. Later this year we’re launching a magazine which will be curated by Artists and the Fashion Designers we work with. There are other plans but it’s probably best to keep them secret!
