P!NK Goes Naked For PETA On The Eve Of New York Fashion Week

Thousands of fashion editors and buyers from around the world who are converging in Manhattan for New York Fashion Week will be greeted by a massive billboard showing singer P!nk wearing nothing but a smile in PETA US’ newest “Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign. The 90-foot-wide billboard, which will be erected in New York’s busy, iconic advertising district this evening, just before New York Fashion Week kicks off on February 12.

“I would like to say I’ve always been fur-free”, says the multiplatinum Grammy winner. “Unfortunately, I went through a selfish phase and wore fur on a couple of occasions. But I wised up and now boycott fur completely. I wish everyone was forced to learn the horrors that these animals go through for fashion trends. I hope fur-wearers get bitten in the ass by the same kind of animal they wear on their back.”

Previously, P!nk and Ricky Gervais lent their voices to an edgy CGI video for PETA UK targeting animal skins, but this is the first time the singer has stripped off her clothes to make her point. The photo, by Ruven Afanador, is the latest in PETA US’ “Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” series. A similar series by PETA UK has featured Eva Mendes, Alexandra Burke and Lucy Watson.
