Move over Tinder! Double is a location based app for iPhone which makes those initial first encounters less awkward and more social. The app enables singles to ‘double up’ with a friend and take on the world of romance as a pair.
Double makes those initial first meets more fun and less daunting and the ability to bring a friend along makes it safer. The app is live in London now and is available to download for free in the Apple App Store.
The idea for Double originated when co-founder Gary MacDonough noticed that his good friend Amy would regularly swipe through Tinder’s finest. Amy would get matches and chat with prospective prince charmings but would never meet up with them. When asked why, Amy said that it would be way too awkward and potentially unsafe to meet a stranger. She turned to her other friend Rebecca and said ‘If only you could come with me and meet one of his friends too.’ And right there and then Double was born!
Since Double launched in the lead up Valentine’s Day 2015 the app has been a huge hit in London with The Times noting that the app has been getting ‘over 8,000 downloads per week since launch’. The app has been getting rave reviews from women with one reviewer saying it was ‘the best invention since the wheel’.
