Hyper-realistic paintings by Kevin Peterson

coalition-II

Kevin Peterson is exploring urban life via creating hyper-realistic painting previewing children accompanied by wolves, bears and birds.

His artwork is curated around the idea of journeys that we take through life.” It’s about growing up and living in a world that is broken” says Peterson in his artist statement. His paintings are inspired by dark and profound feelings of trauma, fear and loneliness to the strength that it takes to survive and thrive. All of his artwork then somehow relates to the contrast between untainted, young and innocent, and is set against a backdrop of a worn, ragged, and defiled world. “My work deals with isolation, loneliness and longing teamed with a level of optimistic hope. Issues of race and the division of wealth have arisen in my recent work.” – explains Peterson on this website.

Peterson is Hudson-based artist and graduate of Austin College in Sherman, Texas where he received his BFA in 2001.
