Artist Alejandro Duran creates beauty from trash

Everyday, thousands of washed up plastic bottles destruct the natural beauty of the oceanside.

In Sian Ka’an, Mexico’s largest federally protected reserve, this issue is making way into one of the most beautiful beaches. The world’s trash is in the waters, leaving bottles washed up on the land. Mexican artist Alejandro Duran created sculptures for his series “Washed Up.” Each piece is located within specific sites based on color and texture. He is interested in the way the environment absorbs the harmful structures and adapts to the plastics in a natural course. Duran distributes the objects in away the acutla current would and tries to mimic that course throughout his work.

Take a look at some of his pieces!
